Should You Be Disinfecting?

It is important to understand the difference between cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting to choose which service best suits your needs.  The three terms are often incorrectly used interchangeably and leads to misinformation and confusion.  At Maid 2 Clean we are here to help you determine which service matches your needs.  Cleaning is the process of removing soils from a surface.  The process of cleaning removes germs from a surface, but it does not kill them. This step is the first and an important step, regardless if you are disinfecting or sanitizing. Prior to disinfecting or sanitizing, a surface must be cleaned first.  Sanitizers kill a certain number and type of bacteria, but primarily reduces the number organisms on a surface.  Disinfectants kill 99.999% of all bacteria, viruses, and fungi after a specific period of time.  Disinfectants kill a large spectrum of organisms as compared to sanitizers. Disinfectants are regulated by the EPA and a strict process must be followed.  All of our disinfectants are on the CDC’s list to be effective against Covid-19.

What spaces can be disinfected?  Almost any space can be disinfected.  We have disinfectants that are gentle enough to be used on kid toys at preschools and tough enough to disinfect a hospital.  If you have a space that you would like to keep germs at bay, give us a call.  We are able to disinfect personal homes, rental properties, playgrounds, medical offices, schools, preschools, pharmacy totes, shopping carts, and many more.  Our proven 6 step process will help you and your family keep a healthier and safer environment for up to 30 days.  Enroll in our monthly subscription plan to maintain your results.  Your customers will have piece of mind going into your establishment knowing that it has been routinely disinfected.

Our Process

Our 6 Step Process

  1. Test with ATP bio-luminescence
  2. Clean to remove soils
  3. Disinfect with electrostatic sprayer
  4. Protect with bio-static antimicrobial for up to 30 days
  5. Test with ATP to confirm cleaning meets our standards
  6. Proudly display to your customers that your establishment is routinely professionally disinfected

At Maid 2 Clean, we take the responsibility to properly disinfect your home or facility very seriously. You have taken the first step to provide a safe and healthy space for yourself, family, friends, employees, and customers. We are honored that you trust us to provide these services to you.

The beauty of our process is the application of a second patented antimicrobial. This application is a bio-static product that effectively reduces the risk of bacteria, mold, fungi, algae, and yeast growth on a wide variety of treated surfaces. The unique structure allows it to attract and puncture the germ. Because this antimicrobial does not kill germs through poison, it remains active on the applied surface until it is physically abraded from the surface. It typically will remain on a surface for up to 30 days depending on usage of the surface.

To help monitor cleanliness levels and the effectiveness of our cleaning process, we can measure germ levels using a ATP meter. This testing is the gold standard used in the food industry to measure and monitor the cleanliness of surfaces. We will take before and after measurements and monitor the progress over time.

Maid 2 Clean has a knowledgeable staff, the best equipment, and the right disinfectants to keep your house or facility safe and healthy.

The Benefits of Electrostatic Spray Technology

For a disinfecting process to be effective, the disinfectant must come in contact and remain on the surface that is to be disinfected.  The goal is to apply enough disinfectant to an area and completely cover it without causing pooling  Using an electrostatic sprayer is one of the best tools available to appropriately apply a disinfectant to a surface.

Electrostatic sprayers work by spraying an electrostatic charged mist onto surfaces and objects. Electrostatic sprayers uses a solution that is combined with air and atomized by an electrode inside the sprayer. Subsequently, the spray contains positively charged particles that are able to aggressively adhere to surfaces and objects. Because the particles in the spray are positively charged, they cling to and coat any surface they’re aimed at.

In simpler terms, you can relate it to rubbing a balloon on your hair and putting your head near a wall. Your hair will stick up crazy and stick to the wall. This is due to electrostatic charges. Most environments and objects have negative charges in nature. The Positive charged disinfectant repel from each other and are attracted to the negatively charged environment.

The result of this is surfaces are evenly coated with the disinfectant on all sides, including the back side. In addition to charging the particles, an electrostatic sprayer reduces the particle size of the disinfectant. Smaller particle sizes are less likely to just fall to the ground and are able to better cover surfaces evenly. These characteristics enable the electrostatic cleaner to be the superior over other methods.

ATP Testing

How do you know when a surface is clean if you can’t see bacteria and viruses?  We all like to think after a surface is cleaned and disinfected that is the actually true.  We all know numbers don’t lie.  Maid 2 Clean will put our cleaning to the test and let the numbers speak for themselves.  We will test the surface before and after we clean.  An ATP test measures the Relative Light Units (RLU) on a surface to determine how clean it is.  This is a standard practice in the food industry to monitor how clean their surfaces are.  ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is found in all living organisms and is the universal unit of energy.  Measuring the levels of ATP will give an indication of how clean the surface is.  Using this information we can ensure the surface is clean to our standards or if additional actions are needed.  We can also track the progress of the numbers over time, helping you maintain a safe and clean environment between services.
