Tannersville is a small village located in Pocono Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania. The history of this community dates back to the early 1800s, when it was known as Pocono Square. Early Settlement
The area that is now Tannersville was originally settled by the Lenape Native Americans. They used the land for hunting and fishing, and it wasn’t until the arrival of European settlers that the area began to change. The Founding of Pocono Square
In 1804, a man by the name of John Jacob Mickley bought 500 acres of land in the Pocono Mountains.
